The curmudgeon

He still believes that one should
Make an effort
To change the world.

Don’t go near him,
He might try to get inside your head
He lost all his years
Attempting in vain
To fix the world.

Don’t make the same mistake that he had
Of looking beyond the periphery
Of walking out of the line
That encircles you.

Let the things stay the way they are
Let your world remain
A humble little world encircling
A narrow horizon
Comprising you and a few;
Where never that curmudgeon can step.
