Immortal

She knew from the beginning
That I hate only so that
I don’t have to love;
I growl and dictate
In a voice that is gruff
For tenderness tends to obliterate me.

I have forsaken my search
For something protracted and perpetual
For I departed knowing well
I will never be home again.

On the way left by the wayfarer
You would see I left behind
The vestiges of eternity:
My ageless soul
And the Godly halos of
The barren promise of Immortality.
